Timecop (1994) is a science fiction action film directed by Peter Hyams, starring Jean-Claude Van Damme in one of his most iconic roles. The film blends elements of time travel with martial arts action, creating a unique and thrilling experience for audiences. It is loosely based on a Dark Horse Comics series of the same name by Mike Richardson and Mark Verheiden.

Set in a future where time travel is possible, Timecop follows Max Walker (Jean-Claude Van Damme), a tough and principled police officer working for the “Time Enforcement Commission” (TEC), a government agency responsible for stopping crimes committed by time travelers. The film opens with a brief history of how time travel was first discovered and then misused, with criminals traveling back in time to alter events for personal gain.

Max is called to investigate a series of crimes that involve powerful individuals using time travel to manipulate stock markets and assassinate key figures in the past. The villain of the film, the corrupt senator Aaron McComb (Ron Silver), is revealed to be behind a scheme to change history and amass wealth and power. As Max attempts to stop McComb, he finds himself battling through different points in time, trying to prevent disastrous changes to history.

The story takes a personal turn for Max when he uncovers that the tragic death of his wife, Melissa (Mia Sara), is connected to the time-traveling plot. Max must navigate the dangers of time travel to confront McComb and ensure that history remains unchanged, all while dealing with his own personal demons.
