Over the Hedge 2.1 (2025) is a long-awaited return to the wild and wacky world of suburban wildlife, following the beloved characters of RJ the raccoon, Verne the turtle, and their quirky crew. This sequel brings even more laughs, heart, and clever social commentary as the gang faces a new set of challenges in their ongoing quest for survival in a human-dominated world. Plot:

Over the Hedge 2.1 picks up after the events of the first film, where the animals have successfully adapted to living in close proximity to humans and their food-rich environment. RJ (voiced by Bruce Willis) is back to his scheming, though this time, he’s more invested in maintaining peace between his fellow animals and the increasingly aggressive humans. But when a new subdivision of houses begins to pop up just beyond their “hedge,” the gang is thrown into a new wave of chaos.

This time, they face the threat of an even larger, more powerful human presence as an elite suburban neighborhood is built right on top of their forest home. As the humans’ ecological footprint expands, the animals must figure out how to fight back — using their wits, teamwork, and a little help from some unexpected allies.

Along the way, RJ and Verne discover that their home is at risk not only because of the humans but also due to the rise of a new villainous property developer, Bill Picket (voiced by Steve Carell), whose plans for the area threaten to destroy everything the animals hold dear. With the fate of their home on the line, the animals must band together once more to outsmart both the humans and Picket’s plans.
