Not all demons hide in the shadows. Some wear holy robes.In this fast-paced supernatural action thriller, a covert group known as the “Holy Night” — led by exorcist-turned-enforcer Ba Woo (Ma Dong-seok) — is called into action when Seoul is plagued by a string of ritualistic murders. As the truth unfolds, they discover a dark cult seeking to resurrect Asmodeus, an ancient demonic force bound by sacred bloodlines.
With razor-edged knives, holy relics, and divine rage, the team — including the sharp-tongued psychic Sharon (Seohyun) and hacker-medium Gun (Lee David) — must face their own haunted pasts while preventing hell from breaking loose on Earth.
Holy Night balances wild, exaggerated action sequences with flashes of horror and theology, delivered through Gareth Evans-style fight choreography and punchy dialogue. Though the plot leans predictable, Ma Dong-seok’s unstoppable fists and Seohyun’s icy cool charisma keep things gripping.
Directed by Lim Dae-hee, the film blends occult themes with pulpy fun — think Constantine meets Train to Busan. Churches erupt in combat, demon eyes glint from human faces, and holy water is weaponized with style.
Rating: 7.1/10 – Visually slick and unapologetically pulpy, Holy Night: Demon Hunters doesn’t reinvent the genre, but its confidence and cast chemistry make for a thrilling exorcism ride. Come for the demons, stay for Ma Dong-seok punching them in the mouth.
