Memory (2022)

Liam Neeson plays Alex Lewis, an aging assassin suffering from early-onset Alzheimer’s. When he refuses to complete a hit involving a young girl, he becomes a target of the powerful criminal organization that hired him. As his memory deteriorates, he tries to protect the girl and take down the people behind the corruption, all while evading the relentless FBI agent Vincent Serra (Guy Pearce).
Neeson delivers a solid yet familiar performance, playing another weary yet dangerous anti-hero. His portrayal of memory loss adds emotional weight, making Alex Lewis a slightly more complex character than his usual action roles. Guy Pearce adds credibility as the determined agent, though his role lacks depth. The action sequences are well-executed but don’t offer anything particularly new or memorable.

The film’s slow pacing and predictable plot hold it back. While the premise of an assassin battling memory loss is intriguing, it’s not fully explored in a meaningful way. The villains are forgettable, and the story doesn’t build enough tension to make the thriller elements truly gripping. It feels like a blend of Taken and Memento, but without the impact of either.
Memory is a decent but forgettable action thriller. Neeson fans might enjoy it, but it doesn’t stand out in his long list of similar films. If you’re looking for a more unique take on memory loss and crime, Memento (2000) is a much better choice.
