The story follows Sam Cleary (Javon Walton), a 13-year-old boy who believes that the legendary superhero Samaritan, thought to be dead for decades, is actually alive and living as a reclusive garbage man named Joe Smith (Sylvester Stallone). As crime and chaos rise in Granite City, Sam tries to convince Joe to come out of hiding and embrace his past. But when a ruthless crime lord, Cyrus (Pilou Asbæk), threatens the city, Joe is forced to reveal his true identity in a battle for justice.
Sylvester Stallone brings a powerful presence to the role, portraying a weary, reluctant hero with depth and emotion. Javon Walton delivers a strong performance, and their mentor-student dynamic adds heart to the film. The action sequences are gritty and hard-hitting, with Stallone proving he’s still a force to be reckoned with.
While the film offers a refreshing twist on traditional superhero tropes, its storyline is fairly predictable, and some side characters feel underdeveloped. However, Samaritan is still a fun, action-packed ride with a compelling central performance and an unexpected final twist that keeps things interesting.
