Resident Evil: Retribution (2012) is the fifth installment in the Resident Evil film series, directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and starring Milla Jovovich as Alice. The film picks up where Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010) left off, with Alice captured by the Umbrella Corporation. She awakens in a high-tech testing facility and must fight through various simulated environments filled with zombies, mutants, and old enemies to escape.
The movie brings back several familiar faces, including Michelle Rodriguez as Rain, Sienna Guillory as Jill Valentine, and Oded Fehr as Carlos Olivera, though many return in the form of clones. This installment leans heavily into action, with intense fight sequences, slow-motion stunts, and elaborate CGI set pieces. The visuals are slick, but the plot can feel repetitive, with Alice once again trying to escape from an Umbrella facility.
While Resident Evil: Retribution delivers non-stop action and fan-favorite characters, it lacks the horror elements of the earlier films. The narrative feels thin, primarily serving as a setup for the final chapter. However, for fans of the franchise, the film offers plenty of adrenaline-pumping moments and over-the-top action sequences.
