“The Return of the King” picks up where its predecessor, “The Two Towers,” left off, thrusting viewers into the climactic battle for Middle-earth. As the forces of darkness, led by the malevolent Sauron, threaten to engulf the world in shadow, the heroes of the story—Frodo Baggins, Aragorn, Gandalf, and their companions—face their greatest trials yet.

Frodo (Elijah Wood) and Samwise Gamgee (Sean Astin) continue their perilous journey to Mount Doom, the only place where the One Ring can be destroyed.
