Clocking in at 4 hours, this version restores Snyder’s original vision, featuring new character arcs, extended action sequences, and a more cohesive story.
The film follows Batman (Ben Affleck) and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) as they attempt to unite a team of meta-humans—including Superman (Henry Cavill), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller), and Cyborg (Ray Fisher)—to stop the powerful Steppenwolf and his master, Darkseid. Unlike the 2017 theatrical cut, this version fleshes out each character, especially Cyborg, who now serves as the emotional core of the film.
The visuals are stunning, with Snyder’s signature slow-motion sequences and epic cinematography enhancing the action. The battles are grander, with Steppenwolf redesigned to appear more menacing, and the final battle is vastly improved. The addition of Darkseid, along with a more serious tone, raises the stakes significantly.
Another standout improvement is the score by Junkie XL, which adds intensity and emotion to key moments. The film’s “Knightmare” epilogue, featuring Joker (Jared Leto) and Batman, teases a fascinating future that sadly may never come to fruition.
Though its 4-hour runtime may be daunting for some, Zack Snyder’s Justice League is a triumphant redemption of DC’s greatest heroes, delivering a cinematic experience worthy of the Justice League name.
