The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986)

Tobe Hooper’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986) takes a bold and unexpected turn from the raw horror of the original. Instead of replicating the gritty realism of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974), this sequel leans heavily into dark humor, grotesque satire, and over-the-top gore.
The story follows radio DJ Vanita “Stretch” Brock (Caroline Williams), who accidentally records a brutal chainsaw murder over the airwaves. This leads her into the horrifying world of Leatherface (Bill Johnson) and his twisted, cannibalistic family, including the sadistic Chop Top (Bill Moseley) and the monstrous Drayton Sawyer (Jim Siedow). Meanwhile, Lieutenant Lefty Enright (Dennis Hopper), seeking revenge for his murdered relatives, arms himself with chainsaws for a bloody showdown.
Unlike its predecessor, this film embraces an almost cartoonish level of violence, with exaggerated kills, insane practical effects (thanks to Tom Savini), and absurdly wild performances. Bill Moseley’s Chop Top is a standout, delivering one of horror’s most memorable villains.
While divisive among fans, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 is a cult classic that mixes slasher horror with pitch-black comedy. It may not be as terrifying as the original, but it’s an insane, unforgettable ride.
