The Outsider (2020)

The Outsider (2020) is a crime drama series based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name. The show follows a small-town detective, Ralph Anderson, who investigates a brutal murder of an 11-year-old boy. The case initially points to Terry Maitland, a local teacher, who is caught on camera near the crime scene and is quickly arrested. However, as Ralph digs deeper into the case, he uncovers a troubling mystery: the evidence also suggests that Terry was in two places at once, leading to a supernatural explanation.

As the investigation unfolds, Ralph teams up with private investigator Holly Gibney, who has experience with unusual cases. Together, they discover the existence of a mysterious and malevolent force that is able to manipulate reality, driving the investigation into dark and unexplainable territories. The Outsider blends elements of police procedural with supernatural horror, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats as they try to unravel the truth behind the gruesome murder. The series explores themes of grief, justice, and the unknown, as well as the complexities of human nature when faced with terror beyond comprehension.

The show stars Ben Mendelsohn as Ralph Anderson, Jason Bateman as Terry Maitland, and Cynthia Erivo as Holly Gibney, offering strong performances in a gripping, eerie narrative.
