The Whole Truth (2016)

When truth becomes elusive and lies take center stage, The Whole Truth emerges as a gripping courtroom drama that keeps audiences guessing until the very end. Directed by Courtney Hunt, this 2016 legal thriller stars Keanu Reeves, Renée Zellweger, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Gabriel Basso in a tense exploration of family secrets, moral dilemmas, and the pursuit of justice.

The story begins with defense attorney Richard Ramsay (Keanu Reeves) taking on the case of a young man, Mike Lassiter (Gabriel Basso), accused of murdering his wealthy and controlling father, Boone Lassiter. Despite Mike’s refusal to speak in his own defense, Ramsay is determined to secure a not-guilty verdict, driven by a personal promise to Mike’s mother, Loretta (Renée Zellweger).

As the trial unfolds, layers of deceit, manipulation, and hidden truths come to light. Witness testimonies reveal a family plagued by dysfunction, abuse, and resentment. Ramsay, aided by his bright and idealistic co-counsel Janelle (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), must navigate the murky waters of justice while confronting his own ethical boundaries.
