The Outsiders

The Outsiders” is a drama film directed by Francis Ford Coppola, released in 1983. Based on the novel by S.E. Hinton, the film is a poignant exploration of youth, class conflict, and friendship set in the 1960s.
The story follows two rival groups of teenagers: the Greasers, who come from a working-class background, and the Socs (Socials), who are from an affluent, upper-class society. The film focuses on the Greasers, particularly Ponyboy Curtis (played by C. Thomas Howell), and his brothers Darry (Patrick Swayze) and Sodapop (Rob Lowe), as they navigate the tensions and violence between the two groups.
“The Outsiders” features a notable ensemble cast, including Tom Cruise, Emilio Estevez, Matt Dillon, and Ralph Macchio, many of whom were early in their careers at the time. Their performances, combined with Coppola’s direction, bring to life the struggles and camaraderie of the characters.
