In Chinese Zodiac, Jackie Chan reprises his Indiana Jones–style persona as JC, a globe-trotting treasure hunter tasked with recovering twelve bronze animal heads representing the Chinese zodiac — relics looted during the sacking of the Old Summer Palace. Backed by a tech-savvy team, JC’s mission takes him from pirate-infested islands to European mansions and high-speed chases, all while evading mercenaries and protecting cultural heritage.
The film blends high-stakes action with comic timing and patriotic undertones, serving as a spiritual sequel to Armour of God and Operation Condor.

Chinese Zodiac is an entertaining, globe-trotting action flick anchored by Jackie Chan’s signature stunt work and easy charisma. While the story is predictable and CGI-heavy in parts, it’s a heartfelt effort that honors both Chan’s legacy and Chinese cultural pride.
Rating:
6.5/10 — A fun, if flawed, late-career highlight for Jackie Chan fans and lovers of old-school action adventures.
