The Tank (2023)

The Tank (2023) is a slow-burning creature feature that blends family mystery with classic monster horror. Directed by Scott Walker, the film centers on Ben (Matt Whelan) and his wife Jules (Luciane Buchanan), who inherit a remote, run-down coastal estate in New Zealand following the death of Ben’s estranged mother. Hoping to turn the isolated property into a new beginning, the couple instead uncovers a terrifying past.

When Ben opens an old underground water tank on the land, he unknowingly awakens a monstrous entity long buried beneath the surface. As eerie occurrences begin to plague the home—disappearances, unexplainable sounds, and signs of something watching—the couple realizes they’ve unleashed a creature that once terrorized Ben’s family.

With no help nearby and danger closing in, Ben and Jules must unravel the property’s dark history while fighting to survive the horrors that lurk below.

Featuring a moody atmosphere, practical creature effects, and a growing sense of dread, The Tank delivers tension and terror rooted in isolation and legacy. It’s a chilling tale about what happens when the past refuses to stay buried—and something ancient is waiting to rise.
