Plot:
Home Alone 3 (2025) brings back the timeless Christmas magic with a fresh new twist. Set in a contemporary world, the film follows Max Callahan (played by Noah Jupe), an 11-year-old boy who has just moved into a charming suburban home with his parents and younger sister. The Callahans are excited to start fresh, but Max’s parents are soon caught up in work commitments, leaving Max with an opportunity to experience a holiday adventure of his own.
This time, instead of burglars, Max finds himself dealing with a group of high-tech criminals, led by the sly Roman Devereux (played by Ethan Hawke), a mastermind thief who has plans to steal a highly valuable, experimental piece of technology that Max’s father, Charles Callahan (played by Chris Pratt), unknowingly brought home after his latest project in Silicon Valley. Devereux and his crew of technologically savvy thieves are after a prototype chip that could grant them access to secure government networks, and it’s hidden in the most unlikely of places—Max’s home.
While his parents are busy preparing for a business trip, Max and his sister are left under the care of their grandmother, Marge (played by Betty White), who is sweet but a bit absent-minded. When the thieves break into the neighborhood in search of the device, Max quickly realizes that the safety of his family—and the fate of the tech—rests in his hands.
As the thieves break into the Callahan house, Max is left home alone with his dog, Rufus. Using his sharp mind, Max creates a series of clever and hilarious traps, relying on his knowledge of his home’s layout and his resourcefulness to outsmart the thieves. The home, now equipped with the latest gadgets and technology, becomes an action-packed battleground. Max uses everything at his disposal—smart home devices, automatic sprinklers, and even his sister’s homemade science experiments—to thwart the criminals, while ensuring that the house remains undamaged.
The stakes grow higher when Max learns that Devereux and his crew aren’t just after the device—they have dangerous plans to sell it to international buyers, risking the safety of thousands. In an epic showdown, Max, aided by his dog and some quick-thinking tricks, confronts the thieves in a series of comic but tense sequences.
In the final act, Max’s courage is put to the ultimate test as he faces off against the criminals in a daring, heart-pounding confrontation, making sure to outsmart them using the ultimate “Home Alone” trick—a combination of traditional slapstick humor and modern tech-savvy brilliance. When his parents return home to find their house in disarray but Max and his sister safe, they are filled with admiration for his bravery and quick thinking. The film ends with a heartwarming holiday conclusion, reminding viewers of the importance of family, resilience, and staying clever in the face of adversity.
