Plot:

The Myth is a lighthearted and adventurous film that blends elements of action, fantasy, and comedy, starring Jackie Chan as Jackie, a modern-day archaeologist who, after years of historical research, finds himself inexplicably drawn into an ancient mystery that could change history forever.

Jackie, a well-known archaeologist with a reputation for solving historical puzzles, has long been fascinated by a legendary figure—General Meng Yi, a heroic warrior from ancient China whose legend has survived through the ages. According to myth, General Meng Yi led a fabled expedition that uncovered the secret to immortality, but he mysteriously disappeared without a trace. Intrigued by the mystery, Jackie is determined to uncover the truth behind this ancient tale.

The film opens in modern-day China, where Jackie and his team of archaeologists are exploring an ancient tomb believed to have been the resting place of General Meng Yi. During their excavation, they discover an ancient artifact—an enchanted scroll that may hold the key to the general’s fabled disappearance and the secret of immortality. Jackie is soon transported back in time to the Qin Dynasty, where he finds himself inhabiting the body of General Meng Yi, taking on the role of a warrior once thought to be a myth.

Caught in a time-bending adventure, Jackie must navigate the complexities of ancient China’s royal court, which includes meeting the Emperor (played by Tony Leung), who is obsessed with finding the secret of immortality. Alongside the Emperor’s beautiful concubine, Lian (played by Kim Hee-sun), who is both a mysterious and helpful figure, Jackie’s modern-day wisdom and ancient warrior skills collide, leading to hilarious situations. He must also battle enemies both old and new, including the Emperor’s power-hungry general Xu (played by an action star like Donnie Yen), who is determined to use the secret of immortality for himself.

As Jackie grows into his role as General Meng Yi, he must uncover the true secret of immortality, learning that it’s not about living forever but rather about leaving a legacy behind. As he races to stop Xu’s dark plans and unravel the mysteries of ancient China, Jackie’s sense of humor, martial arts prowess, and newfound wisdom are put to the ultimate test.
