Shaolin (2011)

In 1990s Hong Kong, veteran police detective Chan Kwok-chung (Simon Yam) is obsessed with bringing down triad boss Wong Po (Sammo Hung), a ruthless kingpin responsible for countless crimes, including the death of Chan’s informant. With his terminal illness looming, Chan, alongside his loyal squad—tough cop Wah (Liu Kai-chi) and rookie Fat (Wu Jing)—employs brutal, extralegal tactics to corner Wong. Their key witness, a turncoat gangster, is targeted by Wong’s lethal enforcer, Jack (Jacky Wu), a cold-blooded martial artist.

When a new inspector, Ma Kwun (Donnie Yen), a principled martial arts expert, takes over the squad, tensions flare. Ma clashes with Chan’s morally gray methods but is drawn into the escalating war against Wong’s empire. As Wong manipulates the system, framing Chan’s team for corruption, Jack’s relentless attacks decimate their ranks. A botched undercover operation leaves Wah dead, pushing Chan to the edge and Ma to question his ideals.

In a desperate bid to end Wong’s reign, Chan and Ma unite for a final showdown. Ma faces Jack in a blistering alley fight, while Chan confronts Wong in a savage brawl at the triad’s headquarters. Loyalties are tested, and sacrifices mount as the lines between justice and vengeance blur. In the aftermath, only one side emerges, but the cost of victory leaves Hong Kong’s streets darker than before.
