Survive the Night (2020)

Survive the Night (2020)
Survive the Night (2020), directed by Matt Eskandari, is a home-invasion action thriller starring Bruce Willis and Chad Michael Murray. The film centers on a disgraced doctor, Rich Clark (Murray), and his father Frank (Willis), a retired sheriff. Their quiet night is shattered when two criminals—one of them injured during a botched robbery—take the family hostage and force Rich to perform surgery to save the wounded thug.
The film’s premise sets up a tense, claustrophobic showdown, but it never fully delivers on the suspense or emotional stakes. Bruce Willis, once a commanding presence in action thrillers, feels disengaged for much of the movie, offering a low-energy performance that has become all too common in his recent direct-to-video roles. Chad Michael Murray does his best with a limited script, bringing some tension to the role of a reluctant hero trying to protect his family.
Survive the Night features some brief moments of tension and action, but the pacing is uneven and the dialogue often feels forced or generic. The villains lack depth, and the plot plays out predictably, with few surprises along the way. While there are moments of violence and intensity, they don’t quite build to a satisfying payoff.
Overall, Survive the Night is a standard low-budget thriller that may appeal to die-hard fans of Bruce Willis or simple home-invasion setups, but it offers little that’s new or memorable. It’s watchable, but ultimately forgettable.
