Lethal Weapon 4 (1998)

Lethal Weapon 4 (1998)
Directed by Richard Donner, Lethal Weapon 4 (1998) marks the final chapter in the beloved buddy-cop series starring Mel Gibson as Martin Riggs and Danny Glover as Roger Murtaugh. This time, the duo takes on a powerful Chinese crime syndicate led by the ruthless Wah Sing Ku (Jet Li in his Hollywood debut). With the help of their old friend Leo Getz (Joe Pesci) and new detective Lee Butters (Chris Rock), they must stop a dangerous human smuggling operation while dealing with their own personal changes—Riggs preparing for fatherhood and Murtaugh grappling with aging.
This fourth installment maintains the franchise’s signature mix of action, comedy, and heartfelt moments. The chemistry between Gibson and Glover remains as strong as ever, and the addition of Chris Rock brings fresh energy and humor to the team. Joe Pesci continues to provide comic relief, though his role feels somewhat redundant this time around.
The biggest standout is Jet Li, who steals the show as the deadly and nearly unstoppable villain. His fight scenes are intense and well-choreographed, making him one of the most memorable antagonists in the series. However, while the action is thrilling, the film sometimes feels overstuffed, juggling multiple storylines that don’t always blend seamlessly.
Overall, Lethal Weapon 4 is an entertaining, action-packed conclusion to the series. It may not have the freshness of the original, but it delivers plenty of laughs, exciting fights, and emotional moments to give fans a satisfying sendoff.
