“Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” is set to continue the epic saga of the Planet of the Apes series, directed by Wes Ball with a screenplay by Josh Friedman, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, and Patrick Aison. This highly anticipated sequel to “War for the Planet of the Apes” (2017) marks the fourth installment in the reboot series. Produced and distributed by 20th Century Studios, the film features Owen Teague in the lead role, joined by Freya Allan, Peter Macon, Eka Darville, and Kevin Durand.
Development for “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” began in 2019 after Disney’s acquisition of Fox, with Wes Ball signed on as director. Much of the screenplay was crafted during the COVID-19 pandemic, and casting kicked off in June 2022, following the script’s completion. Owen Teague was announced as the lead in August, and additional casting was revealed in the subsequent months. Filming commenced in October in Sydney, Australia.
