OVER THE HEDGE (2006)

Over the Hedge (2006) is a delightful animated comedy directed by Tim Johnson and Karey Kirkpatrick, based on the popular comic strip by Michael Fry and T. Lewis. The film tells the story of RJ (voiced by Bruce Willis), a raccoon who must make amends after stealing food from a dangerous bear. In order to replace the stolen food, RJ teams up with a group of woodland creatures who are about to experience something they’ve never seen before: suburbia.

Led by the cautious and somewhat anxious turtle Verne (voiced by Garry Shandling), the group of animalsโ€” including a squirrel named Hammy (Steve Carell), a porcupine named Penny (Eugene Levy), and othersโ€” venture beyond their natural habitat into the human world, where they discover the wonders and dangers of modern suburban life. With RJ’s guidance, the animals begin to devise a plan to steal food from the humans’ homes, all while learning about friendship, teamwork, and the consequences of their actions.

Over the Hedge is a fast-paced, funny, and heartwarming film with a message about environmental awareness, consumerism, and the balance between nature and human encroachment. It blends action, humor, and charm, making it a perfect family film with lots of laughs and clever visual gags.
