Justice League (2017)

Justice League (2017) – A Disjointed Superhero Team-Up

Justice League (2017) was meant to be DC’s answer to The Avengers, uniting iconic heroes like Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman, The Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg. However, due to behind-the-scenes conflicts and a rushed production, the film falls short of its grand ambitions.
Directed partially by Zack Snyder and completed by Joss Whedon after Snyder’s departure, Justice League struggles with tonal inconsistencies. The film attempts to blend Snyder’s darker vision with Whedon’s lighthearted humor, leading to awkward pacing and forced comedic moments.
The plot follows Batman (Ben Affleck) and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) as they recruit heroes to stop Steppenwolf, a forgettable CGI villain lacking depth. The story feels rushed, with minimal character development, especially for Cyborg (Ray Fisher), whose emotional arc was heavily cut. Superman’s (Henry Cavill) return is one of the film’s highlights, but his digitally removed mustache became an infamous distraction.
Despite these flaws, Justice League does have redeeming qualities. The chemistry among the heroes is enjoyable, particularly The Flash (Ezra Miller) and Aquaman (Jason Momoa), who bring much-needed energy. The action sequences, though uneven, offer some thrilling moments, especially the final battle. Danny Elfman’s score, while nostalgic, fails to capture the grandeur expected in a film of this scale.
Overall, Justice League is an underwhelming yet watchable superhero film. While it introduces the Justice League to the big screen, it lacks the epic storytelling and cohesion needed to make it truly memorable.
