The Exorcist (1973)

The story follows Regan MacNeil (Linda Blair), a 12-year-old girl who begins exhibiting disturbing behavior—speaking in tongues, experiencing violent outbursts, and displaying unnatural strength. Her mother, Chris MacNeil (Ellen Burstyn), a famous actress, seeks medical help, but doctors fail to provide answers as Regan’s condition worsens.

Desperate, Chris turns to Father Damien Karras (Jason Miller), a priest struggling with his faith. After witnessing Regan’s terrifying transformation, Karras enlists the help of Father Lankester Merrin (Max von Sydow), an experienced exorcist. Together, they confront the demonic entity, which reveals itself as Pazuzu, in a harrowing battle of faith and willpower.
The film’s shocking scenes, including Regan’s head spinning 360 degrees, levitation, and infamous projectile vomiting, left audiences terrified. Its chilling atmosphere, unsettling sound design, and psychological horror made it a groundbreaking film in cinema history.
