Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022)
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022) attempts to revive the horror of the 1974 classic, bringing Leatherface back for a new generation. Directed by David Blue Garcia, the film follows a group of young entrepreneurs who travel to Harlow, Texas, only to awaken the wrath of the legendary killer.
Visually, the movie delivers brutal and gory kills, living up to the slasher genre’s expectations. Mark Burnham’s portrayal of Leatherface is menacing, and the action-packed sequences keep the tension high. However, the film struggles with character development, making it hard to connect with the protagonists. Elsie Fisher’s performance as Lila adds some emotional depth, but other characters feel underdeveloped.
One of the biggest criticisms is its attempt to blend social commentary with slasher horror, which feels forced at times. The return of Sally Hardesty (Olwen Fouéré) as a revenge-seeking survivor falls flat, lacking the emotional weight of Laurie Strode’s return in Halloween (2018).
Overall, Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022) is an entertaining but flawed sequel. It satisfies gore fans but lacks the depth and terror of the original.
