Plot Summary:
“License to Kill” (1989) is the sixteenth James Bond film and the second (and last) to feature Timothy Dalton as the iconic MI6 agent. The film takes a darker, grittier tone than its predecessors, focusing on a personal vendetta rather than an official mission.
The story begins with Bond and his CIA ally, Felix Leiter, capturing drug lord Franz Sanchez (Robert Davi) in the Florida Keys. However, Sanchez escapes, retaliating brutally against Felix and his wife. When MI6 refuses to let Bond seek revenge, he resigns and goes rogue, determined to bring down Sanchez himself.
With the help of ex-CIA pilot Pam Bouvier (Carey Lowell) and Q (Desmond Llewelyn), Bond infiltrates Sanchez’s criminal empire in Central America. He manipulates Sanchez’s paranoia, turning his own men against him, and ultimately destroys his drug operation. In the explosive climax, Bond faces Sanchez in a deadly confrontation, proving that his personal vendetta is just as lethal as his official assignments.
