Plot Summary:
Bright Star is a tender and poetic period drama that chronicles the tragic romance between the Romantic poet John Keats (Ben Whishaw) and his muse, Fanny Brawne (Abbie Cornish). Set in 19th-century England, the film brings to life the profound yet ill-fated love story that inspired some of Keats’ most memorable works.

Fanny, a spirited and fashionable young woman, initially clashes with Keats, whose artistic world and financial struggles are far removed from her practical sensibilities. However, their mutual admiration deepens into a passionate and transformative bond. Their love is challenged by societal expectations, Keats’ poor health, and the looming shadow of mortality, creating a story that is both beautiful and heartbreaking.

Director Jane Campion weaves a visually stunning tapestry, with lush cinematography capturing the English countryside and the intimate moments shared between the couple. Abbie Cornish delivers a luminous performance as Fanny, portraying her strength, wit, and vulnerability, while Ben Whishaw imbues Keats with quiet intensity and poetic melancholy.
