Plot Summary

101 Dalmatians (1996) is a live-action adaptation of Disneyโ€™s classic animated film, based on the 1956 novel by Dodie Smith. The film brings to life the beloved story of Pongo, Perdita, and their battle against the villainous Cruella de Vil.

The story begins in London, where a Dalmatian named Pongo orchestrates a chance meeting between his owner, Roger (Jeff Daniels), and a kindhearted designer named Anita (Joely Richardson), who also owns a Dalmatian, Perdita. The pair quickly fall in love, and soon, their two dogs welcome a litter of 15 adorable Dalmatian puppies.

Enter Cruella de Vil (Glenn Close), Anitaโ€™s eccentric and wicked boss, who becomes obsessed with the idea of using Dalmatian fur to create her next extravagant coat. When Roger refuses to sell the puppies, Cruella hires bumbling henchmen Jasper (Hugh Laurie) and Horace (Mark Williams) to steal them.

As Cruellaโ€™s grand scheme unfolds, the puppies, along with 84 other stolen Dalmatian puppies, are taken to a remote countryside mansion. With the help of other animals, including cats, horses, and geese, Pongo and Perdita embark on a daring rescue mission to save their pups and thwart Cruellaโ€™s plans.

The film concludes with a heartwarming reunion and a fitting comeuppance for Cruella, as all the Dalmatian puppies are saved and adopted into loving homes.
